A Fiddler on the Roof

One of my recent Photography assignments for my Diploma, was to photograph using 'unusual perspectives'. I thought it would be interesting to photograph people standing on the roof, from the perspective of the ground below, looking up.

So, two weeks ago, on a windy Saturday morning, I arranged a Photo Shoot with my beautiful friend Georgie Harrison. Her little brother, Peter, is currently rehersing for a musical at his high school. It's one of our favourite musicals; "The Fiddler on the Roof". Georgie just happens to be a violinist, (who also sings and plays guitar) so I got inspired to take photos of her playing violing on the roof.

The Harrison family home has many old brick chimneys, perfect props for a rooftop photo shoot!

Using a ladder and the utmost care, brave Georgie climbed on the roof. (Peter acted as our trusty assistant, passing her the violin once she was at the top peak of the roof.) I stayed with my feet firmly on the ground and took photos looking up at her. It was a windy day, and clouds were swirling in the sky, on the far horizon storm clouds were rolling, making an awesome backdrop!

One of my favourite Photos from the shoot was this one below. I wanted to get an image with lots of sky in it, especially since the sky that day was so exciting. Georgie is so beautiful, I love that she looks like an angel or fairy against the big cloudy sky.

Being a guitarist as well as a violinist, we took some photos of Georgie playing guitar and singing. I could only hear her faintly from where I was on the ground, (the wind snatched most of her music away), but both her violin and guitar sounded lovely. All in all, it was a very fun photo shoot!
